Festival de Cannes 2019 : 5 réalisateurs d'origine africaine présenteront leurs films

On retrouvera en compétition le film "Atlantique" de la réalisatrice franco-sénégalaise Mati Diop et "Les Misérables" de Ladj Ly, réalisateur français né au Mali. Les films de l'algérienne Mounia Meddour et de la marocaine Maryam Touzani sont quant à eux sélectionnés dans la catégorie "Un certain Regard", tandis que Alaa Eddine Aljem débarque à la semaine de la critique.

Il fait du "cop watch", en suivant caméra au poing les policiers en intervention. Le film, qui est une coproduction entre la France, la Belgique et l'Algérie marque le retour du pays sur la croisette après quelques années d'absence.

Le premier long métrage de Maryam Touzani nous transporte dans la médina de Casablanca, où se tisse une amitié inattendue entre deux femmes. Peu à peu, leur relation va influencer leur destins respectifs. Ancienne journaliste, Maryam Touzani est la compagne du réalisateur Nabil Ayouch, connu pour son film son film "Much Loved" (2015) sur la vie de prostitués à Marrakech. C'est d'ailleurs lui qui produit "Adam", le premier long métrage de Maryam. Ils avaient déjà travaillé ensemble sur "Razzia" (2017), un film sur la liberté de la femme et les contradictions de la société Marocaine. Maryam Touzani, co-auteure du scénario, y jouait le rôle principal.

Un autre film marocain sur la croisette ! C'est une comédie noire dans le désert, une histoire de trésor caché sur fond de culte religieux, dont le scénario a été primé au festival de film de Locarno.
